WINE PIONEERS IN BELGIUM
In the early 2000s, a Dutch couple, Jeanette and Piotr, embarked on a bold challenge: to create a new winery in Belgium, a country where viticulture had not flourished for centuries. Despite the obstacles, they persevered, inspired by historical evidence in the region. Indeed, vestiges of an ancient wine-growing era persisted in the street names of Walloon villages along the Meuse, such as ‘Rue du Vigneron’ and ‘Impasse de Vigne’.
That is how they acquired a château in the Meuse valley near Dinant, transforming it into Château Bon Baron, a haven of winemaking passion.
The Château Bon Baron, it is…
An exceptional terroir.
Château Bon Baron now stretches on over 17 hectares, including the famous Terrasses Valburnot, where the Pinot Noir Trésor comes from. The rich soils and excellent exposure of the vineyards enable Jeanette to produce high quality red wines and a variety of white wines.
Sustainable and responsible viticulture.
From the beginning, Jeanette has been committed to sustainable and responsible viticulture. She controls yields by green harvesting and selective pre-harvesting, to encourage grape maturity.
Rigorous savoir-faire.

Sharing the passion: Tastings and education.
Jeanette's passion extends beyond vinification She enthusiastically shares her knowledge and love of wine with the public during tastings and educational events. She believes that even small regions can produce exceptional wines and her dedication inspires future winemakers.
A passionate and expert collaboration.

meticulous work in the heart of the vineyard
The magic of harvesting and vinification at Château Bon Baron.
At Château Bon Baron, we believe that sustainability is essential for the future of our planet. We strive to create harmonious, authentic wines that reflect the unique characteristics of our terroir in a way that is green, respectful and fair to every living being.
Meticulous hand-picking
At Château Bon Baron, the journey to an exceptional wine begins in the vineyard. For six weeks, a dedicated team of 25 people hand-pick each cluster with meticulous care, guaranteeing the fruit's optimum quality. These precious berries are then gently transported to the cellar in small buckets, preserving their integrity and freshness.
Winemaking: a marriage of tradition and innovation.
Vinification at Château Bon Baron is a delicate process in which ancestral techniques blend harmoniously with technological advances. Gravity guides every step, from gentle de-stemming to fermentation in stainless steel vats and wooden barrels. This meticulous approach preserves the integrity of the grapes, allowing their elegance, fruitiness and finesse to flourish. Several times a day, the Château Bon Baron team watches over the evolution of the wines, carefully monitoring temperatures and fermentation progress.
Each plot, a unique identity
The Château's various vineyards are spread over terroirs with their own unique characteristics.
Recognizing these differences and specificities, our team vinifies them separately, allowing the essence of the terroir to shine through in every bottle.
Breeding: a patient and meticulous process.
Right from the harvest, the goal of perfection is at the heart of every decision. The wines continue to mature in a selection of wooden barrels, undergoing malolactic fermentation and further ageing. Each stage is carefully orchestrated to refine aromas and sublimate the expression of terroir.
After 20 years, Château Bon Baron has proved that it has its own originality and that its wines reflect the true character of the vineyard: terroir, climate and our passion.
